But there is a point, somewhere around six smokers or two hours, where running the coals yourself stops being hospitality and starts being a job, and some events are past that point before the first guest arrives. 1. Weddings, engagements and mehndi nights
The clearest case. The evening runs five or six hours, the guest list is in the hundreds, and the people hosting are the last people who should be thinking about charcoal. A shisha corner, set up away from the dance floor and near an open side, becomes the place guests settle between courses and after the main events. 2. Corporate events
Team nights, client dinners, launches, Ramadan majlis evenings. The organiser is already managing a venue, food and a timetable; the shisha has to run itself and look professional while it does. A uniformed server, individual mouthpieces, herbal heads for non-smokers and an invoice to the company are what matter here. Gold for a department, Platinum for a company event. 3. Villa parties and big birthdays
The classic Dubai weekend: a garden in Jumeirah, Dubai Hills or Arabian Ranches, twenty people, music, a late finish. Without a server, the host spends the night outside with tongs. 4. Yacht trips
A different problem: there is no going back for more coals once you have left the berth. We set up on deck before departure with enough charcoal for the trip, the shishas are lit as you sail, and the server manages wind and heat so the heads do not scorch. 5. Rooftop and pool parties
Open air, long evenings, lots of movement. Shishas spread around the space rather than in one corner, cold flavors like Wet Lips and Pan Kiwi Spring Water for the heat, and a server who keeps circulating. Gold or Platinum depending on the crowd.
6. Desert camps and outdoor events
Wind eats charcoal, sand gets everywhere, and the burner needs a sheltered, stable spot. We bring extra coals and a windbreak and set up on a hard surface. Worth a server for the heat management alone.
Where catering is overkill
A dinner for four or five, a couple on a balcony, a quiet night in. Order singles instead: AED 150 to 230 each, two heads, lit at your door in about 45 minutes, collected tomorrow. One shisha per two to three smokers and you are done.

Count the smokers, which at a wedding is usually 30 to 50 people, and allow one shisha per three or four at a long event. 12 to 16 shishas with two servers is typical. We quote it as one number.
